Bukit Panjang Plaza
The building features metal facades with perimeter glazed glass canopy as shelter at the ground floor.
Close-range Inspection
One metal cladding panel was removed to examine the facade system beneath to inspect the anchorage, fasteners and the condition of the backing wall.
Metal cladding is secured to the runner via screws on both lengths of the L-clip.
Typical L-shaped cleat bolted onto wall and runner.
Runner held in place at intervals by L-shaped cleats.
L or Z cleats are used to fasten cladding to runner.
Perimeter glass canopy at ground floor secured by wall mounted cantilever T-section and tie-rods anchored to building wall.
Comments from our CP
“What impressed me most as the PFI CP, though, was what’s behind the panels. During a close-range inspection with trial panels opened up, the connection detail turned out to be refreshingly simple: a perimeter L-clip on each panel, screwed to a cladding rail (“runner”), which is in turn held off the wall by top-and-bottom L-cleats.”
